Welcome to the 10th Annual Toll Gate High School Student Financial Education Fair
As you know, throughout the school year, monthly presentations were conducted by Wave Federal Credit Union’s representatives on topics including: Careers, Savings, Checking Accounts, Debit Cards, On-Line Banking, Electronic Banking, Financial Planning, Credit and Budgeting. The credit union presenters provided basic information on these topics to help increase your understanding of the importance of managing your personal finances to be prepared for the financial challenges and lifestyle decisions you will face as adults.
The credit union greatly appreciates the opportunity to sponsor this program and to work with Toll Gate High School students each year.
Today’s first ever Virtual Financial Education Fair will allow you to apply the knowledge you learned during the school year on managing your personal finances and budgeting based on your chosen career and net monthly salary.
If at any time you have questions, you should contact your teacher. To participate in this year’s Virtual Fair, you should have already completed the first page of your budget worksheet that lists your career selection and net monthly salary.
In association with the purchasing decisions that you will select today, you will experience firsthand what it takes to make ends meet from month to month for expenses such as housing, food, utilities, transportation, clothing, insurance and other consumer products and services, and as a result will gain a better appreciation of the importance of budgeting and financial planning to achieve a secure future. Once you complete the Virtual Fair assignment, the budget worksheet must be completed and submitted to your teacher.
The success of the program is a direct result of the partnership between Toll Gate High School and Wave Federal Credit Union. This collaboration is helping to meet a critical need for high school students. Every year we are impressed by the students’ interest to advance their knowledge of banking products and services and, most importantly, to develop an understanding of financial responsibility. If you can manage your finances well and live within your budget your future will be easier and less stressful. Credit needs and opportunities will cost you less and save you money. You will also have a much better chance of fulfilling your dreams.
I wish you all the best of luck and thank you for participating in our 10th Annual CU4 Reality Financial Education Program and Fair.
